Church Weddings

Why should we have a Church Wedding? Some thoughts by Pastor Perry Fuller, Westwood Hills Christian Church The location of your wedding is one of the most important elements in your planning. Having your wedding in a church incorporates a spiritual element. The two of you are entering into a very special relationship. One might even describe the nature of marriage as holy. It is therefore most appropriate to begin this relationship in the context of a church. The spiritual quality of marriage is felt strongly in surroundings that suggest the presence of the Holy. Also, having your wedding in a church reinforces the support of your family and friends. Just as the bride and groom make their vows before God, the guests make a silent commitment of support, also before God. Their presence in the church underscores the importance of that support and strengthens the commitments made by all. A church wedding is likely to include the guidance of a clergy member. It is not unusual that the officiant of your wedding ceremony will offer to meet with you and your fiancé prior to the wedding day in order to work out the details of the ceremony and to offer premarital counseling. This is an added benefit that may not be available to you in other settings. Finally, having your wedding in a church enhances the look and elegance of the occasion. The artful architecture, the stained glass windows, and the religious symbols will help make your ceremony personal and memorable. The beauty of a church wedding will also be captured in photographs that you will cherish and enjoy for years to come. Wherever you decide to have your wedding, may it be in a place that enhances the meaning and the significance of your union.
